Premium overage pricing, in plain English
Premium includes a working baseline. If you need more users, more incidents, or more storage, the overages are transparent and predictable.
Add teammates beyond the 3 users included with Premium. Billed monthly per active user.
If you file more than 10 incidents in a month, each additional one is $5. No tiers, no surprises.
When your photo and evidence storage grows past 50 GB, you pay for the GB you actually use. No block rounding.
Common questions
Honest answers to the things most teams ask before signing up.
What's the catch with the Free plan?
There's no catch. Free is a real, permanent plan, not a trial that expires. You get the core CRIMR workflow, photo and evidence attachments, and PDF export for one location and one user, up to 4 crime incidents per month.
The honest tradeoff: Free covers crime incidents only. If you need to document employee writeups, accidents, or custom incident types, that's on Premium.
What's the difference between Free and Premium incident types?
Free covers crime incidents: theft, shoplifting, break-ins, suspicious activity, and similar. This is the core use case for most small venues and single-location operators.
Premium unlocks the full incident universe: employee writeups (for unemployment claims, performance disputes, terminations), accidents (customer slip-and-falls, workplace injuries), and fully custom incident types for your business. These are the incidents most likely to generate expensive legal exposure, and the ones that need the most careful documentation.
If your business is regularly dealing with more than just theft, Premium will pay for itself the first time you need a defensible record.
What happens when I hit the Free plan's limits?
Free is hard-capped, not metered. When you reach 4 incidents in a calendar month, new incident creation pauses until the monthly reset (on the 1st), or until you upgrade to Premium. The same applies when your 10 GB storage fills up: new uploads pause until you free space or upgrade.
But you don't lose network access. Even when capped, you can still browse the CRIMR network in read-only mode. View incidents shared by other businesses, stay aware of patterns in your area, and see the intelligence that Premium users are contributing. You just can't submit new incidents yourself until the cap resets or you upgrade.
Your existing incidents, photos, and reports stay fully accessible either way, so you never lose work.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Free signup requires an email address only: no credit card, no billing information. You only enter payment details when you decide to upgrade to Premium from inside your account.
What happens when I exceed my Premium incident limit?
Premium includes 10 incidents per month. If you file more, each additional incident is billed at $5 on your next invoice. There's no hard cap and no service interruption. You'll never be blocked from documenting something in the moment. The overages appear clearly on your monthly statement.
Can I downgrade from Premium back to Free?
Yes. You can downgrade to Free at any time from your account settings. Your historical incidents, photos, and reports remain accessible. You just move to the Free plan's monthly limits going forward.
How do I upgrade from Free to Premium?
Upgrading takes about 30 seconds. Inside the CRIMR app, open your account settings, choose Premium, and enter your payment details. Your plan changes immediately: no data migration, no re-onboarding, no downtime.
Is my data secure? Who owns the incidents I create?
Your data belongs to you. CRIMR is built on Microsoft Azure with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Incident records, photos, and reports are isolated per account, and we don't resell or share your data with third parties.
If you cancel, you can export your data before closing the account. Detective Analytics & CRIMR software is protected by U.S. Patent No. 11,651,461 and related applications.
What if Premium isn't enough, but Enterprise is too big?
For many teams, the Premium overage pricing ($20/user, $5/incident, $0.50/GB) scales naturally past the baseline without needing a custom contract. If your needs are genuinely between the two (multi-location, large team, but not enterprise loss prevention), just reach out and we'll sort out a fit.
